From Kenneth White, January 2005:
"Philip and Elizabeth had 8 children. Thomas and John you know, were the eldest. There were three Philips; all died before the age of 2. Catherine died at one month. We do not know what became of Elizabeth and Martha. All 8 children were baptized in the 7 years between 1739 and 1746. After 1746 no further children have been found. Elizabeth Wormwell must have been worn out."
and later in the month:
"I also found the following in my notebooks.
Downham Market Archdeacons Transcripts Film 1526808 Item 6
Baptism Anna Maria of Philip and Esth Theodoric 21 Sept 1766
1768 noted 13 deaths in the town from Smallpox
Burial Sophia of Philip and Esther Theodorick 31 August 1770
Baptism Harriot of Philip and Esther Theodorick born April 7 1772 baptized 6 January 1773
These data appear to show that Philip probably married again. We know Philip was alive in 1768 from the Norfolk Poll Book. His first wife died. None of his three sons named Philip survived. I recollect when I first got this data that I was reluctant to consider Philip fathering children at the age of 59. In the 1700s 59 was a grand age. However, these data do suggest this is Philip born 1713, and that he was a grand old man with plenty of life".

On 19 August 1745, Charles Edward Stuart, eldest son of the Pretender James Francis Stuart, raised the Jacobite standard at Glenfinnan in Scotland. His army defeated government forces at Prestonpans on 21 September, killing many as they attempted to flee the field, and entered Edinburgh in triumph. Invading England, his army reached Manchester on 29 November and Derby on 4 December. The Norwich Assembly assured George II of the city’s loyalty, but remained on their guard against Jacobite sedition, closing down taverns, plays and shows as potential focal points for sedition or riot. Rumours that Norfolk’s Roman Catholics would rise to seize the city’s arms played into Whig hands. Thomas Gooch, Bishop of Norwich, warned people to remember the persecuted fate of French Protestants. A loyalist Association was formed which was supported by the Whig dominated Mayor's Court, including Simeon Waller the Whig Mayor, important city Presbyterians and leading members of the future Octagon Chapel.
In October 1745 The Norfolk Association set up a fund for repressing the Scots rebels. The preamble read:
"We whose names are hereunto subscribed Do agree to Contribute and pay the severall sums of money set against our respective Names to be applied for the support of his Majesty's person and Government and the Peace and Security of this Country In such manner as shall be adjudged most effectual in this recent Exigency, And that a Committee be appointed with full power from this Generall Meeting to take proper Measures for that purpose, And that application be made to his Majesty for proper powers and Comissions, And that all persons subscribing one hundred pounds / the Committee and the Quorum to consist of Fifteen"
(followed by 475 names and amounts of £, including:
Robert Walpole, 2nd Earl of Orford, High Steward of King's Lynn 1000
Viscount Coke of Holkham 500
