Information from Kenneth J White, USA, by email in January 2005:
"Mary Hingham 1735 –1769 died as I mentioned in childbirth. I arrived at this conclusion from the following:
Little Walsingham Bishop Transcripts:
Burial Mary Theodorick Adult May 2 1769
Burial Thomas John Theodorick Minor May 2 1769.
Mary Theodorick nee Hingham wrote her will on 21 April 1769, just a few days before her death while living in Holt. In her will Mary mentions her son Thomas Theodorick who was not baptized until August 23 1769 in Holt. Mary does not mention in her will Thomas John Theodorick who was buried with her. From this I have concluded Mary give birth to twins, one died at birth and the other, Thomas Theodorick was baptized four months after Mary’s death, attended Gresham School and died in 1792 without issue.
There was also an earlier son Thomas John Theodorick baptized 28 October 1767 in Holt and was buried 23 February 1768 in Holt.
A further fact giving credence that Mary Hingham had twins is that Mary Hingham and her sister Martha were both baptized on the same day; indicating they may have been twins. This is conjecture, but in the 1700s parents endeavored to have their children baptized as soon as possible. It was an age when no parent wanted a child to die without baptism. Mary Hingham’s mother was Martha Wymer. Mary Hingham’s father, Anthony, gets credit for supplying the new weathervane when Holt Church was rebuilt after a disastrous fire in the early 1700s".
