The estates of Ardgour were passed to him by Hector Mor of Duart, Chief of Clan Maclean. But he didn't legally enter into the estate and died without legitimate issue (see Warriors and Priests, page 144) and there is doubt as to whether the Ewen who succeeded him was his half brother or his son.
