Biography
Jeanette Wickham, Melbourne, Australia, by email October 2004:

"Amie MacRuari, on the death (murder) of her brother Ranald in 1346, inherited all the MacRuari land. They were children of Roderick, Lord
of Garmonan, who also received part of Lochaber from the Bruce. He held Garmonan, the islands Benbecula, Barra, Rhum and the Uists. Amie had at least three sons, John who married Elen or Helen dau of Gilleasbuig (Archibald) of Lochawe (Campbell). She re-married, to Duncan, Earl of Lennox (after John's death) on 15 Nov 1369. The second son was Godfrey, born after 1337 and the third, Ranald who later inherited the Garmonan estates. He was the forebear of the Macdonalds of Clanranald, Macdonells of Glengarry, and the Captains of Clan Chattan, who became the Mackinstoshes of Mackintosh. Maclean-Bristol (MB) notes that they divorced by the compensation of Pope Clement VI."
