Barbra Maclean

A reference is made to Barbra Maclean and her future husband, on p. 27 of Allan Maclean Skinners book on his father, Lt-Gen Skinner:

"On the 9th March, 1809, he proceeded to Barbadoes, and was appointed to the command of the troops at St Pierre, in Martinique, where he remained till January, 1810, when he was appointed to command a Brigade on the expedition against Guadaloupe, which set sail on the 22nd January, under convoy of Admiral Cochrane. January 27th, the army disembarked in two divisions, one of which landed at St Marie, the other at the River Plessis, about three leagues to the north of Basseterre, upon which the enemy fell back behind the Black River. General Sir Charles Wale, however, with a strong detachment, in which was the Royal York Rangers, under Major, afterwards Major-General, Mahon, (who, June 4, 1807, married Mrs Skinner's sister Barbara, she and her only child, Allan John, dying February, 1809) turned their left, when after the loss of ninety men killed and wounded, himself among the latter, the French Commander-in-Chief, Ernouf, surrendered, February 4th."
