Edmund, buried in Gosfield Church near Halstead, Essed, on the North side of which is a large pew or rather room with a ceiling moulded in plaster of George II time. On the West wall is a marble slab inscribed:
Edmund Nugent
Son of Robert Viscount Clare
and Lady Amelia Plunkett
his first wife
died this 26th of April 1771
aged 39 years
On an urn over Robert Nugent's tablet is inscribed:
Margaret Nugent
Sister to Robert, Earl Nugent
Died November 18th, 1794
Aged 70 years.
Edmund had two illegitimate sons, George and Charles Edmund [Both are mentioned in footnotes on page 49 of the Chaplin and Skinner book, as 'natural sons'. Also at the bottom of page 52. For further account see 'Lady Nugent's Journal' published 1839 reissued 1909 by F Cundall: London Black. Sir George Nugent made Field Marshall 1846 died at 91 at Little Marlow where is a monument to him. ]
Married Maria Courtland Skinner, had son George Edmund (2nd Baronet) and four others.
