James Edward Holroyd Pearce

Obituary in the Daily Telegraph for Friday June 14th 1985:

"James Edward Holroyd Pearce, QC, who has died aged 51, was the younger son of Lord Pearce of Sweethaws, former chairman of the Press Council, and brother of Judge Bruce Holroyd Pearce, QC. With his brother he followed in his father's footsteps at Charterhouse and Corpus Christi College, Oxford. Subsequently he was called to the Bar by Middle Temple in 1960 and, diverging from family traditions in matrimonial and general common law practice, entered chambers specialising in tax work, from where he practised in that field. Since 1970 he had been legal adviser to the National Skating Association, and was a council member of the Artists' General Benevolent Institution".
