According to Ellen's marriage certificate her father was a spinner, but he could have changed jobs (tough to be a coal miner at 70!), and this is the only James Sharrock (as opposed to Shorrock) found in Lancashire in 1881. It is of interest that his wife was born in Wigan, since Ellen was born there too. Also, Esther, Ellen's eldest daughter, called one of her daughters Alice (Alice Louisa Hadden, born 1881). On this evidence I have added Alice to the tree as James Sharrock's wife though it is of course inconclusive.
