HARDING, The Reverend John. Effects under £3,000 Resworn at the Stamp Office May 1862 Under £5,000 (MS: D's May 1872 Under £3,000). 13 June The Will of the Reverend John Harding late of Glanogwr House in the Parish of Coity in the County of Glamorgan clerk deceased who died 10 May 1861 at Glanogwr House aforesaid was proved at the Principal Registry by the oath of Sir John Dorney Harding of Doctors' Commons in the City of London Knight Her Majesty's Advocate-General the son the Sole Executor.


Alan Ray-Jones writes, March 2003:

The account in the Chaplin and Skinner families book claims that John Harding's great grandfather (also called John Harding, born 1700), was descended from Robert Fitz-Harding, grandson of Hardicanute, whose estates included Coaley, but gives no information to substantiate this claim. I am indebted to my cousin Pio Burlamacchi, who amongst other things has provided me with a family tree, left to him by his British forbears, which provides the names of the ancestors of John Harding (born 1700) back to Thomas Harding of Coaley in the 16th Century, with a statement that there were six further generations of Hardings (names unknown) back to Rudolph Fitz-Harding of Coaley at the time of Edward II, and then a further 6 generations (names unknown) back to Robert Fitz-Harding, who will be found in the index, and whose wife Eve, (daughter of William the Conqueror's sister Godiva, and thus grandaughter of Robert the Devil, Duke of Normandy), is said to have died on 12 March 1170.
