Biography
From 'The Chaplin and Skinner Families' December 1902, page 81:

>> It will here be appropriate to say a few words of his devoted wife, Louisa Sarah Skinner, who for years assisted him in his work and travelled with him in many parts of the world. She was, like her husband, an accomplished linguist - talking most modern languages with facility, and reading for her amusement Latin, and especially Greek, authors. During the greater part of her life she had suffered from indifferent health, and although she was able to nurse her husband to the end, and was with him at Sétif when he died, she did not long survive him, and died on the 9th July, 1897, whilst travelling in search of health with her son John Allan Cleveland Skinner, at Allévard-les-bains, Isere, France, where she was buried. <<

END "I am particularly interested in the Chaplin and Skinner womens' role in the campaign for Education for Women. It is easy to guess how they might have got involved in the campaign. Louisa and Mathilda Chaplin grew up at 35 Blandford Square, London NW and were neighbours of Emily Davies, Barbara Bodichon and Elizabeth Garrett Anderson." And, in a later email in November 2006: "Regarding 35 Blandford Square - Louisa Sarah Chaplin was married from there in 1864. Perhaps Marylebone Archives can check a local Kelly's Directory for you to get an approximate date when the family left."
