1863: The will of John Welcher senior found amongst old Welcher papers at 27 Primrose Hill Doddington by Bet Redhead (her letter 29 March 2000) included the provisions below. His son John Welcher Jnr was the sole executor. Bet said she would pass the papers to Elizabeth Garwood, her husband's sister's daughter
"To daughter Mary Welcher during her life if she should remain single and unmarried the sum of six shillings without any deductions every Saturday, if not paid she could recover any outstanding payments by distress.

To daughter Elizabeth Pope a widow the sum of fifty pounds.
To son Richard Welcher the sum of fifty pounds
To daughter Sarah Craven wife of James Craven the sum of fifty pounds
To daughter Susan Coleback wife of James Coleback the sum of fifty pounds.
To daughghter Caroline Matilda Skeels wife of Joseph Skeels the sum of fifty pounds
The said five legacies all to be paid by instalments of ten pounds per annum to each of the said legatees so that all the said legatees are paid within five years after my decease....."
The homestead and buildings and seven acres of land were also mentioned.
